A new Head Light topic.

Bump!!! Ordered from Amazon. I'm going to film it tonight after it has been on 5 hours and we will see how it does, right now it looks good in daylight after being on 5 hours. Later
5 hours!? That's impressive. The mfg. says it only last for 2 at full power. What type of batteries are you using? Or are you running it off an adapter?

Oh yeah! Thanks ole Internet Master Radtech :thumbleft: ....they are on Amazon for $70.78! I am a light freak and I might just order one. I always like to compare products. Thats how I ened up with the ones that I am using. I spent somewhere around $2000 on LED bulbs and compared them all.

LMAO!!!! no prob, Pea. All it took was a google search and 1 click on amazon. :glasses1:

I wont be getting one, but if you're interested, amazon has them for $65-70
Thats the wrong one!! I have the one for $102 H14R is the 220, the other ones are like 100 instead of 220 in size and I think that mean a spot up 220 meters.

Your right SteveReid. Radtech was looking at the one that takes 4 AAs. Is this the one? The "220" refers to Lumens The lumen (symbol: lm) is the SI derived unit of luminous flux, a measure of the total "amount" of visible light emitted by a source. The 210m is how far the light will shine in meters. 220m= 689 ft.

You got it!! In about 2 hours I will go out back and film, then you can judge it.

My apologies to anyone who broke out the wallet as soon as I posted. I just clicked on amazon and saw one that looked like it and an earlier poster mentioned the 4 aa's, so I assumed that was it

Reread this add and it appears to have several settings for different brightness levels. If you scroll down it DOES say it has multiple levels and one is 220. Here is that part of the add...

Product Description
LED Lenser H14R 190 Lumens LED Headlamp, Black/Blue Band - Standard 880044

It appears the only difference is that the other one is rechargable, but a big plus in my book

Ours are 435 lumens so I'm curious to see how this compares at 220 lumens. I am anxious to see the pics. I know my 220 lumen handheld will not hold a candle to the 435 lumen bulbs that we are using. Then again...who hold these folks to any kind of lumen standard. lol. I could say mine is 10k lumens and who could dispute it?

I took Steve's H14R out last night well after dark to try it out in the back yard. Side by side with my 100 watt halagon, it was very similar in distance and brightness. The first thing I noticed was how white it was compared to the halagon.

There were no gators or frogs to look at but the spiders lit up like diamonds. At about 50 yards that old ally cats eye looked like a yellow light shining back at me. No bugs were out so I don't know how they will react to the light. The only bug I saw was a moth, he flew right on by like he didn't see it.

We plan on taking it out on the lake very soon to give it a real test. 10 minutes in the marsh will tell the story.

From what I've seen so far, I think it's going to be a winner. We'll post more later.

From just looking at the unit, there is alot of technologie in the Glass lense. Works like a Hawks eye. lol

This video isn't very good!! My Camera is a hitech Nikon and I'm not a hitech redneck yet. I have a el'cheap'o Canon that makes a good night video, so when I charge the light I will use it. Skinnypockets and I will be out gigging befor long and we will film both lights, then we all can compare them. But I can tell you I will be using the H14R it is awesome.http://youtu.be/3EOTCT6EZ1A

Ya'll ought to look at some of the stuff built by Nite Rider. We used to sell them at my bike shop. Amazing lights. We used to use them to ride very technical mountain bike trails at night. They are rechargable and come in many different configurations, I believe they even make a waterproof model.

Sure hope someone figures out how to add a 12V remote to something like this -- battery pack for when it is remote; 12V powered for when it is used on an airboat, ATV etc.

I believe something like a rifle scope sun screen extension tube will compress the spot as well.

PRP: Hint, Hint!!

Finished it in the weee hours of the morning (last night) Bigdaddy! I am working on a few minor details now. However, it is 3800 lumens, will work from a 12vdc source, also has a lightweight lithium battery pack for use when you are off your boat. It has 3 modes (spot, flood, and spot/flood). I currently have it mounted on a welder and it is very comfortable. Pics will be on my fb page in a few minutes. You will be one of the first to try it. I am taking it frogging tonight and I'll get back with you.

Lowes had a 3 aaa battery one for $ 59.00 last year, same brand Led Lenser, rheostat + aperature (spot/flood). Costco 48 pack of aaa batteries for $ 13.00, you'll be good for years. 155 lumens.. there is also another similar on www site. plenty bright for riding at high speed.
