A fire that was started in area 3 by lightning has been raging for a week now and last night it was bigger than ever. The few rains did nothing to curtail it's furry. From the roof of Camp Old Glory at night, the glow is as big as many sunsets. The fire started to the south and has been burning north as I see it from here. I sure hope that none of the camps were lost in the fire. :dontknow: Hundreds (if not a thousand) acres have been burned. The smoke is much thicker than a burning sugar cane field. :violent1: This happens many times when the Glades get dry and it's been said that it is for the best but Sawgrass recovers very slow, so that area will be barron for many years. If any thing, the cattail will have an advantage and is very detrimental to the Glades since it consumes every thing in it's path.
