Hello there, this is okie. You can order the complete manual from AIR CRAFT SPRUCE. aircraftspruce.com

If you do not have the OIL TEMP GAGE, AND CYLINDER HEAD TEMP GAGE, AND A AIRCRAFT TACH FOR THE CONTINENTAL 220 GPU THEN YOU CERTAINLY NEED TO GET THEM. ANY OTHER INFO. YOU NEED FEEL FREE TO PM ME, I WILL TELL YOU THE WHERE AND WHAT'S FOR THAT ENGINE.

Okie, I also have a 220GPU but I dont have any head temps on it; were do they install at?I dont recall seeing any place on my motor for them. Do you monitor all 6 of them? If so what do the gauges look like and were do I buy them, sorry for all the questions but I am new to this and have alot to learn.

Duckman I am in the same boat as you. I just installed the oil temp gauge and i am not sure about the cylinder head temp gauge. Okie and help on this???

cylinder head temp. gages etc. can be found at most Voltswagon shops good luck, BUT YOUR BEST BET IS TO REED THE ARCHIVES OF '220 GPU " ON SOUTHERN AIRBOAT!

I was in a tossup between CHT and EGT gages on my O360. The CHT I got from Aircraft Spruce is so simple to install anyone can do it. the sensor just goes under the sparkplug like a washer on the hottest cylinder and the gage is standard panel mount size and you can connect the two with plain 18 gage wire. The EGT requires a thermocouple be mounted in the exhaust gas stream of the hottest cylinder. It has to be securely mounted, and there are several methods to do this. The EGT gage will give a quicker response but the CHT is simpler and will still show the info you need. Browse http://www.aircraftspruce.com/menus/in/chtgauges.html

I wouldn't run the boat without a CHT gauge. Get the 18mm spark plug sensor and be sure you use a copper aircraft washer with any auto spark plug. I monitor all six cylinders but you only need one cylinder to see what is going on. Monitor number 3 or number 4 cylinder. They get the hottest and keep the temps at 450 or below and you will keep that engine running a long time. The max temp for those cylinders is 500 degrees, so, never go above that for any reason. If you don't have a gauge you don't know if you're cooking those cylinders.

That is real good advice.

okie, gatorfrog, reddfin, whitebear, des moines thanks for the info, CHT is the one i do not have. From what i gather, it says like you can pick the side you want to monitor. 3 or 4 or both, installing them looks pretty basic.
Thank yall again,

gauge and i am not sure about the cylinder head temp gauge. Okie and help on this???[/quote]

Ok thanks. I will put a stop on my order DM and change it to a different gauge. I changed my order and ordered a Mitchell CHT Gauge 100-600 pt# 10-25070and with a Lead Mitchell 10" CHT Lead pt# 10-25185. I fired the engine today and let it run a little while. I wasn't checking for Temps, just wantedmy Oil Pressure was. So, at idle of 500 RPM oil pressure wa and reved up to 1500 Oil pressure was reading a steady 70, this is good I think. What say you.
THIS IS FROM A POST THAT I MADE BACK IN JANUARY. GAGES ARE FROM AIRCRAft spruce, and here are the parts numbers I will also post pictures in the 220gpu article aircraft only so you may see where to attach cables.

okie

The above is a post that I made back I think in January conserning the gages. The parts numbers are also listed in this statement. Both of these gages were purchased at Aircraft Spruce. The Aircraft Tach was purchased at Classic Airboats, on all gages you must state length of cables for all sending units. I have included pictures on the installations of each, and a picture of the module I built and installed the gages themselves. The module is mounted on the seat back of the passenger seat.

I hope this helps you guys, you can print the pictures off of here. Also if you want a manual for your 220 GPU, you can order them through Essco aircraft manuals, they are cheaper than Classic Airboats. But I don't know if they are the exact same manual. I got mine through Classic Airboats.
