Crab Trap removal program starts up....

This just may be a perfect opportunity for some of us to get together on the water. Texas Parks and Wildlife Department will conduct the 2010-abandoned crab trap removal program on Sat. Feb. 20th, 8 am until dark, at the Fort Anahuac Park boat ramp.... Here is the link...

Sounds like a good plan. I looked, that seems like a long drive for me, but I'll see what we have going, somewhere here in Feb I gotta make sausage unfortunately....
 
Its going on All up and down the coast. Pick you a spot that a tad closer... it can be alot of work pick up the really old ones filled with all sorts of trash, but still surprised with the amount of wildlife they do catch,
 
that's right down the road from me,i'll be out there probably with a go-devil or two as well,?i've tried to get most of the ones from ike out of the river and the trees around it here north of I-10 last year,but there's still a bunch in lost lake and old river,also heard commercial crabbing was off limits north of 10

I"llhave to see if they have one around Caranchua then...
 
Volunteers are needed to assist in the coast-wide effort to remove the numerous wire mesh traps that have been lost or abandoned since last year’s cleanup. To facilitate volunteer trap removal efforts this year, TPWD will provide trap drop-off sites at several locations along the coast Saturday, Feb. 20, from 8 a.m. to noon, weather permitting. Additionally, at most sites, dumpsters marked with banners will be available to receive traps for the duration of the closure. Site locations will be announced in February.

Y'all should also take a few pictures & write up an article & submit it to one of the airboating magizines, as they're always looking for a good story. :wink:
 
I sent an email to TPW askign about a local area last week, have no reply yet..... I know a fairly close area but it'll have SO many boats working, I'd rather go to a place that needs boats....
 
Well it must not have been important. I sent a couple of emails and never got a reply as a volunteer and that kind of thing pisses me off, it shouldn't , but it does and I said F it... I ain't driving down on my own to figure this out if they can't at least point me in a direction of need.

Maybe next year.
 
That's just pathetic... you'd think that they'd be a little more proactive & be ready to assist anyone or any group that was willin' to participate. I can't say that I blame you Jeff... I'd be disappointed in them too. :roll:
 
This was part of the reason I got the AB in the first place. Unfortunately, it was and is outta commission.
 
You figure out what all is needing help?

I still haven't heard a peep... guess I"ll have to call TPW next year ahead of time...
