I heard the news this am that Michelle Bachman, when she was in Sarasota yesterday, said she was in favor of drilling for oil in the Glades,,, Is this true??? I only heard a news report,,, That would be such a tragedy for all,,, :drunken:

They did the exploration a good many years ago ... drill baby drill ... we need the money and yep accidents will happen but cleanup pays good as well .. so drill baby drill PLEASE
 
Well alrighty then,,, I guess I was wrong,,, I would have never thought that the natives would want to drill in the Glades,,, I have been around the oil industry and between the drilling, the roads, low bridges, pipelines, it is sure going to cut your riding spaces down,,, IMHO only :drunken:

Like Cntry says....cleanup pays well also...

Little to no downside in my opinion....of course I am not a "GREEN WEANIE, LIBERAL, ENVIRONMENTALIST WHACKO NUTJOB, LOOKING FOR A REASON TO HALT ANY PROGRESS OF HUMANS" so I may have a different view than some :D :D
 
They have had producing wells in the Big Cypress near Sunniland since 1943.

Digger o'Toole has oil on his Land South of the Loop in the Big Cypress He has carried a jar of it around for years High sulfer content when he first found it was not worth drilling for he still owes 3 acres and the mineral rights for another 40 around the property.
Even if the quaility of oil he has is marketable now I am not sure if he could get the permits to get it to the road or the equipment to his land to pursue it.
He is quite a character though when the NPS demanded that he only could keep 3 acres he surveyed his land in a cirle and took a his 3 acrea in a circle . I think it had something to do with a project he worked on in the Navy involving spheres.
I hope he gets a chance to get his oil

:violent1: drill fer oil in the glades??? lots of jobs created? Clean up pays good? Wouldnt those cleanup jobs come after a MAJOR DISASTER OR SPILL? Not to mention it pay$ so well at the TAXPAYERS expense/retarded oil drilling company. were not that dependant on oil from over seas, mainly canada and mexico. I would like to find something mrs bachman loves to do and threaten it with major disaster on the hopes of more jobs and less dependancy and see if she gives me rhe same look I gave my smart phone when I read this headline. If it happens, im voting no to stupidity, NO DRILLING "N THE GLADES. My father is featured in a nice dvd that is alwY.s on pbs called river into the new world, the st johns. It will show u how thw water in the glades flows all the way into jacksonville. Oh my dad is the ome with the big red beard bragging bout tje frog leg festival if yall check out the movie :florida:

I disagree!

I have rode airboats over millions of acres of marsh land that has had heavy oil exploration influence.....some changes for sure....no lasting damage in MY OPINION....mother nature heals very well and relatively quick!!

Not exploring for and using our natural resources is directly related to the economic disaster we are in now!
 
Has been going on in big cypress for many many years just south west of the last 3a ramp on 41 not far north of the tower and swing hole there is 2 wells in there and a pipeline from my understandings it is pump up about 5 miles past the alley then trucked to port everglades to get shipped off for refining i believe there is 10 wells through out big cypress and about 4-5 in immokalee area the 2 in the cypress consume about 3 trucks of diesel a week to run all the generators and equipment so go figure what the pump out how many truckers are full time employed hauling out of the storage tanks on the end of the pipeline
 
I worked in Seismic Research for a few years finding oil. I have seen no lasting impairment of the land from blasting or from drilling. It will create a LOT of airboat driver jobs and if your record is clean some explosives jobs too. Not to mention management and infrastructure jobs. Drill here and Drill NOW!

I'm pretty sure they wont drill without a new 4D seismic survey first.

Now would be a good time to get your captains license, and Fed Explosives permits if interested.
 
Wow,,, I just read the article of Sideways, and I had no idea that they were already working wells in the Glades,,, I just took it for granted that the Glades were a protected place,,, Dont get me wrong, I am not a tree hugging bunny lover by any means,,, Maybe I should get out more,,, lol Sorry boys, I didnt mean to kick the top off of a Fireant hill,,, I just made one of my stupid observations,,, In other words, I put my mouth into motion, before i put my brain in gear,,, My bad,,, :drunken:
 
You did fine by sounding the alarm. By the time someone hears of it its usually too late to benefit from it. This gives a little advance notice for those wanting to get job. Our own airboaters have at least a chance.

BTW there are oil wells along the East side of 441 South of Holopaw too, but I think they are capped. id almost bet they will be uncapping then shortly.

I had read the Bauchman statement and never thought anything could come of it....she isn't the first politician to suggest such a realistic step in addressing some of our country's problems.

A little discussion can't possibly hurt SA :shock: :shock:

May shed a little light on our members environmental and economic stances :shock: :shock:
 
LOL now y'all know I am a tree huggin bunny lovin fool ... especially if I have drank too much which is why y'all hardly ever see me drink .. chasing them rabbit down to givem some lovin is gettin harder to do keep trippn and havin to hug a tree till I get my balance back
