This is what we built for our 455 Buick line of boats. it works well with SBC DD as well. Just set your own mounts and dimensions. This is a concept drawing not an assembly drawing.

I'm curious what's the rule of thumb for engine crankshaft angle to boat bottom. Do you drop the nose of the engine or raise it in relation to hull bottom.

crankshaft and stringers bubble level is a good starting point, having an adjustable rear mount will make any future adjustments or 'fine tuning' pretty quick and simple.
