fixing poly thats been ripped off boat?

I'm just wondering if any of you have had this problem, but I got some ice between the hull and my poly and it seperated it right off the hull. Here are a few pictures of what I'm talking about.

Anywho. Basically my quesiton is, do I have to take this piece off and replace it? or is it repairable? thanks!

It sure LOOKS lke the screws that hold your poly are NOT wide head poly screws. It might be as simple as replacing the screws with the correct ones. Loose poly - or poly that comes loose while underway is a nightmare.
 
Yes i have had the same deal happen with mine , it was "fla black mud" that pulled mine off the boat... :thumbleft: :rebel:
 
I do have the wide head screws already on it. It looks like I'll just be replacing the warped part of the poly. is that what you did Harley?

and No. just 1 layer of 3/8ths regrind poly on it.

I replaced the hole sheet when i done mine , it was tore up pretty good.. the only way to do it right was a new sheet on all of the hull... :thumbleft: :rebel:
 
about 10 yrs ago I hit a tractor that was under water along side a deep canal (sounds crazy) > It must have fallen through the ice yrs. ago.. It was all rusted apart except for the main frame and engine. It was cannibalized with the head removed(flat head). Well I ran up on it( the head studs) and got hooked pretty good(was running slow). Might of got over the top if I would have been on plane. Anyway got her back home and lifted her up on a fork lift. I sectioned out the rip 8x12. I cut it with trim router set just shy of 3/8 with a ply wood fence to guide it around. Used a sharp utility knife to finish the cut. Removed some of the poly screws to hold the fence (guide) At the leading edge I used a 45* dove tail cutter so i could tuck the patch piece under with 45* on the front edge to match. It has held for all that time with 50% of my time on ice up here in Mich. This repair was on a 16ft. Alumitech.
 
if its towards the front less then the running bottom` it would be fine to piece in BUT why take a chance if u can afford it buy a new sheet now is u can yes u can buy time with a piece but then again it makes me wonder every time i hit the water is it gonna hold up ..... piece of mind ..
