A few weeks ago I purchased a pair of battery powered push to talk intercom headsets ! my problem is that when the engine is not running all is fine BUT when I start up and accelerate the RPM'S the static is so great that communication between two people is completely drowned out !! I suspect that the altenator or the distributor is the culprit but don't know for sure !! is there a product made that can suppress this problem and how do I apply it ? the engine is a cadillac 472/ 1970 model Thanks fellas !!
 
Step One is make certain the cage and all parts of everything is properly bonded to ground.

You can add some things in steps and see where it helps.
Noise reduction Spark Plugs. (Resister plugs)
Noise suppression Plug Wires.
There used to be a suppressor kit to quieten the alternator. Might check with local auto parts store.

My bet is one or more of these will solve your problem.
Are your headsets or Walkie Talkies AM or FM sets?
 
Remove the wire going from the alternator to the battery or the belt will eliminate the alternator. If you still have a problem it maybe ignition. When you turn off the key does the problem instantly stop, that would tell me it ignition that causing the noise.
Are you using sold ignition wiring, if you are go to resistor wires or resistor plugs.
