Ok sorry to start another one of these threads but this boat is 5hrs away and wanted to see what y'all thought of it? 2000 model diamondback Chevy 2000 model 454 looks to be in good condition. I want a good rig for me and two other duck hunters on the Texas coast. Said they would take 14500. I'm looking for some opinions if I should go this week and make the drive. Thanks for any info guys. http://showroom.auction123.com/the_boat_yard/inventory/9847/2000/ID_97332312.html#lg

It looks nice...my advice would be to make a 5 hour trip & take it out. Have a buddy ride along so you can see what it will do with 3 people, and if you like it make an offer. In the end it's only money, and when your pullin bugs out of your teeth because you can't stop smiling its all worth it. I bought my boat, overpaid, and put a ton of money into it. Truth is it still isn't right, but I'm one happy airboat owner.

Also, if there's a SA member in the area ask and see if they will come out to help you with the inspection. I've found that most of these guys, and ladies will bend over backwards to help you out. I know that doesn't answer the question about its value, but unless someone checks it out in person it's hard to say. That's just my opinion. I learned the hard way. 8)

i havn't been shopping or checking prices lately, just seems the tired 454 most likely will need replacing soon. have no idea about ratio, etc. be sure ifyou buy it, you can afford to replace the motor it it goes out on you the first season. Looks like a ok boat to me. Bud

that's what u are gonna pay for a boat like that. go check it out and give it a test run. if u like it, get it. if u have reservations, keep looking.

btw, i had a simular rig i sold a couple years ago, had almost 1000 hrs on the 454 and it was fine. i sold the rig for 15k and saw it last week in the la sportsman classifieds for 22,500. lol looks like the guy didn't even wash it.

if your gonna be running the coast, be sure to look at the rigging good and look for rust/rotten metal. a stainless cage/rigging would be the way to go.

good luck!!!!!!

put it this way if it runs decent I know there are some good deals out there but you can't build one for that. you buy a decent motor, with all acces, $10.000.00 a gearbox min used over $2000.00 a prop even used over $2000.00 there's $14000.00 right there and you don't even have a boat or trailer or all the accessories. just being real but there are deals out there you just have to research people sacrifice and need the money

Buy it, run the heck out of it, shoot your ducks, fish the gulf, etc, and then next year if you don't like it you can sell it for the same price.
Good looking boat for the price, there's probably $14k just in the engine, box and prop, hardware and accessories. 330hrs is not a lot.
