Odyssey battery

I loved my Odyssey battery (PC1200) BUT it went flat after one year. Ran great last week today would power the fuel pump. Took it to Batteries Plus and they informed me that the battery fill below 8 volts which voids the warrantee. That's it $200.00 gone. Thought you should know. For me that's the last Odyssey I will ever buy. They didn't tell me that when I bought it. They just said "comes with a three year Warrantee". Guess I should have read the fine print. Now you don't have to.

My Odysee is 1 1/2 years old with no problem, but the other day I ran some 12 volt lights off of it for about 2 hours and it would not crank my boat. 2 little 12v light bulbs we are talking. I had to hand prop it. Love my little 4 Cylinder. Took two trips of running it for it to charge back up. I figured on the ride in woulda been charged? Couple days later I go out in my boat and the battery was kinda sluggish to start but it did. Seems to be fine after i ran it some more and now it cranks right over. Hope i dont have anymore problems Or it will be my last one for sure also!

take it back now, have them test it. If you wait they won't warrentee it

You might try a different Batteries Plus location or try contacting Odyssey directly. They have treated me right over the past two years I've had a PC1200.

How many issues could you have with a battery in only two years? Not trying to be a dick but if I had issues with a battery in that short of time I would find a different battery.

No offense taken. The issue I had was my own fault: I dropped it on it's head one day when removing it from the boat. I broke the cover plate and blew one of the pressure valves inside the battery. Odyssey told me that with a blown valve, it probably wouldn't work, but I could duct tape it and try; so, I put the cap back on the valve, duct taped it up, and ran it for another 8 months before it died. When it did finally die, Batteries Plus worked with me a bit on the price of a new one even though it was obvious just by looking at my old battery that it failed from user error.

We also have a PC-1700 that spent its first year of life in an offshore boat and has been on an airboat for the past 9 years with zero problems.

Just wondering if telling Batteries plus that your Odysey battery was on an airboat had anything to do with why they didnt warranty it. Mine is giving me problems cause i ran it down once. I dont want to tell them its on a airboat. had it only 16 months and i Damn sure dont want or think I should have to spend any more money. Anyone have an Idea on that???

Well here's the deal. Went to Sebring Batteries plus after they told me to come on in (1/2 hr away). The guy put a volt meter and said "no warrantee end of story". I took it Batteries Plus in Fort Laud where I bought it. Told them what happen in Sebring. They kept the battery for testing for two days, called me and said it was no good but they would warrantee it, come pick up your new battery. Batteries Plus in FT LAUD on Commercial BLVD are stand up folks. Not sure who warranted the battery yet them or Odyssey. The Odysseys need a battery tender on it when the boat is setting (mine hadn't been setting long 7 days maybe). Odyssey say if the battery drops below 8 volts no warrantee. Not sure I'll buy another but I will get my batteries from that store. (2 1/2 hrs away)

Thanks for the Info! Took mine down today to the one in Melbourne. I will have to say it checked out good! Guy told me that the Altenator is a glorified Battery tender basically and is not used for charging the battery. I had ran mine down by running 12v lights at camp. hand propped my boat and figured the altenator would catch it up. He told me to go home and put a 6 hour quick charge for gell battery and I should be fine. He said to never trickle charge a gell battery, they take a fast charge better. He didnt say why. so thats what im doing now and we will see how she does from here on out.

Glad to hear they backed it up. Hope you have better luck with the new battery! :thumbleft:

My first "set" ran for 8 yrs, now I am on my second "set" of two yrs. No trouble. Froggin' all night or what ever. But like I mentioned, have always ran two

60 amp alternator is a glorified battery tendered. They must have some battery charger.
