Generally speaking a carbon fiber prop can be made shorter. The best advice is contact the manufacturer and discuss any modification with them.
I personally have dealings with Sensenich and they have a service program to repair, refinish and balance. That would be the time to address a cut down as they may need to reset the leading edge.
Over the years I have seen some dicey DIY and when they come around I’m looking for a tree to stand behind.

What kind of prop? Wood, solid composite, hollow composite?
