I meant 72 JW but either way I do not believe I can fit a 74 in my cage.

S Fla The question is where are you running or well "not" running dry?
So if I remember right Alec asked me about this boat when it was on marketplace, good low price for a turn key rig, well,,,, there in lies why it was priced low, the hull is junk, play with all the props you wish but it won't cure a bad hull.

Don't know about the hull, but the poly job is junk for sure. The first giveaway is bolted poly on a riveted hull. Rivet the poly on too, every 5-6 inches in the middle and every 2-2-1/4" along the seams.
Strip the poly off, cover all the holes with 100 mph Flextape and take her for a spin.

Wish I had the boat back…. Sure was a pleasure on the water.
Finally built another ( bigger/stronger/faster)
Then another….
I guess we’re never satisfied

Can`t Run Dry .....is it a lightweight ? or a Heavyweight ?

Looking for opinions, or logical places to look to help me improve (or decide it just aint happenin) my ability to run on dry ground. First of all, I realize that I have built (actually rebuilt) the low end, or entry level airboat.....so my expectations have nowhere to go but up, and whatever...

Yea I don’t think the hull is junk. The poly does look to have been done poorly. U can tell from the back end at transom. It’s not even cut very nice, it’s all jagged etc. first thing i noticed. Doing the bottom is a bit of a project for me right now, but I can probably at one point send the boat out to have the bottom redone.

Thank you for the help. It’s not the end of the world for me. Saying it doesn’t run any dry would be a lie. It does some but not efficiently at all and I will frequently get stuck. I’m going to try looking at the engine angle first and see if it makes a difference, if not I will have to have the bottom workedThis old thread is very long, but Alec….. I also have a video of the boat running dry from not long before it was sold to me and it seems to be doing it just fine. Uphill

John I never called you about this boat and it for sure wasn’t cheap not on marketplace lol. Last thing I called you for was to rebuild the motor of my other boat for me and you wouldn’t answer the phone. But that was ages ago and already in the process of being rebuilt.

Well, the pics of broken valve springs in the archives show different but yes, I've been shut down for about 3 years due to family deaths, supporting the living who are suffering nearest to me, as well as myself currently, I'm glad you are getting it overhauled.

Thanks. Only boat that had anything to do with me and broken valve springs was a 0290 that you did the he top end for me about 3 or 4 years ago. Sorry to hear about your family.

i run an NGQ but i tried a JW on my boat a few years ago and couldn't tell much difference from the NGQ. i also tried the JM but i didnt think it pushed near as good

Try feeding each a 2" myrtle branch or dead chicken and then see which runs better? The NGQ eats more than the JW for sure LOL.

Just entering the tail end of this but did someone say Jw's 88's? I own 9 now and although I still like my jx's on a work boat, I do prefer the jw's of sound quality? A hint past the normal problems of best push vs what blade vs what it sounds like on my end!

Not here to argue but I had a 72” JM on a 230hp 470 at 12* and there was a lot more prop than I could spin. No where I could t go with that setup

Yea I’m looking to get a JW or NGQ. I’m also going to shim the prop end of the engine up maybe a 1/4 inch. The boat seems to dig when on plane. Maybe I can get it to bring the bow up a little.
