Race meeting?

pretty good turn out. had a great time good food nice boats. some rule changes and every thing was voted on. Be a learning curve for some of use but i can't wait!!

Dan,
Any idea, even a guesstimate, about how many folks are signed up?
Did anybody throw around any numbers?

i did't get those # but i'm sure someone will chim in with them. 8to 10 unlimeted alone. there will be alot more sign up as we get closer and early in the morning the day of the race. sounds like there is a good turn out so far. They had a sherif there talked about what they were concerned about. they were really cool about everything. Goerge did a good job mediating and running over everything!

Daniel I'm a wore out man. Got home about 20 minutes ago. I appreciate all help with set up & tear down from everyone that helped. Food was good when I wAS finally able to eat. All I can say is everyone had opportunity to be there and vote and make any recommendations. All & all as Daniel said all went well. Some things that the majority vote changed surprised me. Hopefully the changes that were made will make for good crowd pleasers and good car motor , air craft shoot outs. :D

I heard they are doing one thing that I always wanted. Every time a friend or family member would come to an air race they left before unlimited ran. You know the races always started late and people with kids can't sit for 6 or more hours in the sun to wait for unlimited so they left before the end. This will be cool I was told they will run rounds of unlimited between all the other classes. This will be great for the crowd and spectators. Plus more people will see how fast these boats are and wait to see the final round. However I hope they run race boat at the end or early because the aircraft guy's and some other race boat guy's will not be able to switch timing and prop pitch between unlimited and race boat. And the A/C guy's cant switch back and forth from alky to nitro. So the need to run race boat all at once before or after they run unlimited.

it happened to me as well a few years ago at lake topo- i left before the unlimited boats ran- i drove 3 hours one way to watch the races and never got to see the REALLY fast boats run.

Race meeting went great!

Awesome time and the airboat club put on a great fish fry and George did a great job.

Beautiful location and great boat ramp!

Good spot to put in.

I went and checked out all the boat ramps, if anyone has any ?s let me know.

There were alot of people there at the meeting but I only knew a few.

Not to many from the east orlando/cocoa/melbourne side.

I guess it was to far.

They said they would have an escort from the sherriffs dept (or there working on it ) to escort race boats from the fish fry location.

I think they said the races start @ 10:30 am BUT better let George confirm that.

Any drivers that didnt show need to get ther $$$$ in or at the latest sat morning early--- I dont remeber the cut off time for that. Better get with George on that too

Also got to see some racing after the fish fry----FINALLY

Okay.............been reading a few comments this morning, called George to verify a couple of concerns. Here is what he said:

Racers can register between 8:00am-9:30am on Sat. July 5th

Want to have racers paperwork and everthing wrapped up by 9:30-9:45 for first race

First Race at 10:00am

Alot of racers are putting in at Gerald Sherrer's home on Lk. George, where the race meeting was held. If you need directions you can call Gerald @ 352.685.3335

The other ramps for ANYONE to launch are: Volusia Bar and Blue Creek Lodge Rd
Orginally wanted racers to put in at Blue Creek, however, cannot regulate where people park, it will get crowded and busy that morning, just come early and have some patience!

There will be a roped off area on the SANDBAR for racers. Depending on winds and water depth that day, be prepared (as a race boat) to have some kind of anchoring just in case the water is not particularly low enough for your type of boat

Asking DONATIONS from spectators, will send someone around a couple of times during the day to elicit. It's your call to give what you can :)

Classes should be updated on the http://www.narainc.com website tonight for you to check

Don't forget dinner at Quarterdeck Restaurant for those interested Friday night July 4th

Any other questions, you can always email George here on SA or the NARA Inc. website.

Thanks for supporting!
(I am going to to post this EXACT comment on the other race inquiry threads)
