Well actually that wasn't the one I was thinking of... I totally forgot about this one!!! (Cherpa Strikes again!) LOLOLOL I was thinking of the one of me in jail... not that that photo is an improvement by any stretch of the imagination!

This has to be the most entertaining thread I have read in a long time and I'm just seeing it for the first time.
Although I'm known here in Alaska as the "dryrun", I chose Takuriver.com to show off my website. After I was registered, I found out I could have just had that on my signature and used the name Dryrun...dang it!
 
My wife and I bought a weekend place 11 years ago becuase I loved to speck fish, and I sat on the dock and watched airboats of all shapes and sizes go by for 10 years. Finally jumped head first into it. Learned a lot of hard and costly lessons but thats part of it. Joined SA because just about everyone I spoke with always mentioned "Are you on SA" ect. Our camp is on Alligator Place (Street Name) so it just fit. Love the site and have met a lot of great friends and learned a bunch.

Funny, I changed my Avatar to the continental graphic because I sold my car motor boat Saturday and Sunday before 1pm I had a new boat. :shock: - If that’s not the true definition of the airboat sickness nothing is. Oddly, though I finally feel like I did the right thing, Realized that when I swung the new little boat around with one hand. I have crossed over and it feels good so far :angel4: See ya on the other side..
 
i have been around the withlacochee since i was 17 (42 now) and i have property along it by big blue and potts, i have helped out with the airboat community for years but my wife has been scared to get one because her dad charlie strange has done crazy stuff and some of her freinds were killed on one, well got tired of hearing and watching and just went with my son and got a small one. now me and my son cant stay off of it and its a sicknees like a fever hence the name "swamp fever" any and all airboaters are welcome to stop by the camp and chat anytime. maybe this year we can get together for a pig roast out there.
 
Got the name 20 years ago after starting work with railroad. Was a chicken farmer at the time.Didn't have gas money to get back and forth to work. Would bring eggs to work to sell. 1 dollar a flat. Got hung with the name pretty quick.

I joined the Volusia County Sportsmen Conservation Association back in February. Nearly everyone had an aircraft or GPU engine for their airboat and I was one of the few that had a carmotor. My buddies in the club would kid me about my big barge with the carmotor. I decided to build a new boat and to be funny by calling it the "CarMotorBarge". This boat is currently being built by GTO. It is a 14 foot Al David fulldeck with a 418 CI WaterThunder carmotor and seating for 5 (Look at my signature for more details). It is not your typical car motor boat, but I will be able to take my family of 5 anywhere my VCSCA buddies go with their aircraft or GPU boats. Can't wait until it is finished. I need some aqua therapy.

My first name is Brad although most people call me by my middle name which is DEON hence the (b)... yes most likely the only white redneck you will ever meet so named that was not born in South Africa... I asked my mother and father what the hell they were thinking, but neither one will actually admit to remembering how i got so named. (must have listened to the song "a boy named SUE"to many times)....Martin is my last name, and the "103" was my permanent ID number when i was still working at the Citrus County Sheriffs Office. If i ever come out of retirement and go back to the same agency i will still retain the number.... At least in theory...
 
Derived from a long time ago with my first boat. It was never a question of if.................. but how many times in one night of frog'n!
They used to call my brother "Flop" because it seemed he always was there to right me back up again for another go!
Had an old 10'X6 1/2" Palm Beach type hull with about 4' of running bottom. Damn thing would roll over sit'n still if you leaned one way or another.
Once you've done it as many times as I had (somewhere around 50+) there was no fear so"let r eat" was the motto on the next three boats!
Looking back....................It sure was irresponsible. Funny how a couple "little Betty's" changes your outlook!

a friend moved down here to South Florida from Chicago and was constantly calling me up when he got lost driving ... or needed directions somewhere ... or needed to know where the closest *something* was to his location... and i always had an answer.. my name is Jon and he just started calling me Jonstar since he didnt have OnStar in his car or whatever... its catchy so i use it on a number of forums.
