Where around Port St Lucie can I get the wire fence material to redo my prop guard? I would like to find a piece large enough to to it in one piece, I've been to Tractor Supply in Ft Pierce and they didn't have what I'm looking for.
Thanks, Chris. :florida:

ace hardware , as far as i know it only comes in 4' and 5' rolls . you should only have 1 seem up the center top half of the gaurd and a strip around the hoops .

Yup, you'll have to piece it, but it you cut and fit it right when you tack it up it won't show. Buy a bundle of Ty-raps when you start fitting everything on ..... it'll hold everything right where you want it til you get it tacked. Diamondback will sometimes make the cage wire in panels and then Ty-rap them on. That looks really sharp, and if you need to get at something later, you just snip the ties. I've seen them powder coat the wire a different color than the cage even ...... that looks way cool. They do beautiful work over there.

The feed store on the East side of US1 just south of Midway road.

They will order it for you, as they probably don't have it in stock.

Make sure you ask if they can get you the heavier 10 awg wire size material for you.
It is made with the heaver / thicker wire.
It is much better than the lighter 12 or 14 awg wire mesh.

the thin stuff is about junk hard to weld with out burning it the thick stuff is great but if u wanna make it look great hand lay it it is cheaper then the wire its self and easy to weld but takes longer

The best way is to make each section in panels and to tie wrap it. I just built a boat and did a perfect job had it powdercoated and now the welds are popping. Im sick over it. If I would have done it in Panels I could have taking them off and either fixed or replaced where it was popping off. And you can even change the color periodically is you wanted.Just My Opinion!

what material can be hand laid on a conduit cage other that 2x4 wire...Stainless 3/16 round? what wire would you use to weld it with...i cant find regular round 3/16 steel any where...what other options is there?

PS ...
If you go to Tractor Supply for your wire, the stuff they have is called 'goat wire'. Good quality, and at a good price.

Yea buddy... When done right, it will even match at the center bar where each side meets.. Nothing better than a clean MATCHED wire job... cant tell where you started and where you ended... :toothy7: And when you get the good thick wire, it won't pop off after welds and stays put..

call youre sheet rock supplier in ur area and get whats called hanger wire, comes in 2 diff gauges, you can hand lay out what ever pattern you want ,I paind like $60 for a 50lb bundle

I was wanting to get away from this sonic welded crap all together, hand lay 3/16" round stock...but can you get it in reg steel, i can get it in stainless, but can it be welded to conduit...if so what welding wire in my mig would be used..gas...etc. seems like any "dog wire" will break at the factory welds then its pretty much unrepairable in that spot. my cage is in great shape but the "welded wire" is S@#T.

You can buy 1/8" round stock and hand lay it piece by piece. Looks awesome and is a lot stiffer at the end. You can buy it in regular steel or stainless from most steel suppliers. If you can only find it in stainless you can still weld it as if it were normal mild steel, but it will need to be covered (ie primer and paint like the rest of the emt or steel) My friend "Apache220" just did his cage for like $30 in materials if Im not mistaken and it looks freaking sweeeettttt.

"Hanger Wire" ,is this for hanging acoustic ceilings. If so yea i know what this is, has a galvanized coating or zinc or something that does sound good...simple. As far as stainless does anyone know what wire/gas combo would be used.

yes sir thats what it is comes in something bout 1/8 and something thinner. I used it on a side job boat works great last good easy to use

If your welding it to a conduit cage, then use the same set up you welded the conduit with,,,,

Apache220's cage did look real nice. Need to get him to post some pictures.
