Thanks for the Thanks glades cat but I didn't have a whole bunch to do with this except to send reminders to key people that the date hadn't been changed on the USFWS's web site and that I or nobody should believe it was done until then.

They must have gotten nervous and had the head guy malthaus send me the confirmation on a USFWS official email.

The demand for an extension of the comment period was well founded due to us finding out for sure that USFWS intentionally scheduled hearing dates to conflict with airboater/hunting events so we would have problems attending due to conflicting priorities.

So much for that failed attempt to lagScrew us.

Now on to putting a .458 magnum headshot into Headwaters with THOUSANDS of comments.

Comments are our most effective ammunition on this hunt.

We ain't talking tiddly winks here folks - Let's network like a bunch of bunny huggers and show them how it's done.

To ensure consideration of your comments in the development of the final LPP and EA, please ensure that we receive your comments on or before November 25, 2011. I recieved the following reply back from the FWC after contacting them on the Headwaters project. Looks like the comment deadline has been extended

That is exactly how the enviros have lagScrewed us over the years.

WE compromised with them thinking they were honest - Big Mistake.

Compromise only works when both parties want something.

The enviros (and I mean almost all of them no matter what they say) want humans to have zero use of land. That is the truth as I have witnessed their actions over 15 years of deep involvement.

So the result is that every time WE compromised WE lost and these slick turkeys have won since they always knew they had nothing to lose in the first place.

Things are changing though and that ain't no joke. Hooray!!

Can someone help me understand how FWC can be in total control of a Federal Refuge?

If ORV's are to be allowed to be used at a minimum for traditional activities (e.g. hunting, fishing, camping, frogging etc.) the USFWS (Feds) have to declare the ORV activity as appropriate and appropriate.

The USFWS (Feds) have not done that in the Land Protection Plan (LPP) that we are commenting on at present.

It seems like current suggested comments are sort of asking Ford Motor Company (USFWS) to allow a much smaller company (FWC) with less resources to design and build the engines that Ford's (USFWS's) reputation is hinged upon.

Can Federal laws (e.g. Endangered Species Act and Clean Water Act etc.) and Presidential Executive Orders mentioned as mandates in the LPP that USFWS is supposed to live by be disregarded by a Federal Agency?

I fully understand the reasoning for commenting "choose the No Action Alternative" but can't see recommending FWC as lead agency until made to understand how that would ever be possible and would not want to be on record recommending something to USFWS that is impossible.

Someone Please Help Me Understand!

I think at the Okeechobee meeting somehow during the presentation USFWS or maybe from the audience there was some indication that folks would support this BAD REFUGE idea if the FWC was in charge of recreational activities.I heard the comment several times during the meeting. So that is where the confusion may have started.

If this was a Florida Wildlife management area than the FWC would have some control but as a Federal refuge the FWC has no power or control as we learned the hard way down south.I agree No federal dollars and no additional federal refuges

I just received an email stating Nat Reed supports this Federal refuge and will probably attend any Congressional Hearing on this so folks need to keep the pressure on NO FEDERAL REFUGE
