Carrying a pistol through multiple states...??

The girlfriend and I will be driving from Fl to Tennessee for a 5 day vacation. I usually carry my 9mm in a slip-in-type holster (doesn't have a strap, just slides in) and in the glovebox, loaded. I've been stopped once and the cop just did routine procedures and gave me the all clear. I'm fairly certain that carrying my pistol this way is legal... My question is, is this legal through the multiple states to get to Tennessee??? :dontknow: I'm going to be on the road for a good 12hrs and would like to bring it for person protection.

P.s.- I do NOT have my concealed carry, so I need some opinions on being as legal as possible! Thanks.
 
I carry my 40 with me when ever I go to pigeon forge. I go at least once a year, ether summer or fall. As long as your not acting stupid and giving a reason for the law to search you, you are fine. I take my pistol up to the cabin with me and when I go out, I just hide it until I get to my truck.
 
If it were me, I would Google the state guns laws and not depend on someone's opinion, but my opinion? I'd go for it !
 
You want actual laws I can't help. I'll gladly give you an opinion, and you can do what you wish with it.

In America we have the Second Amendment, and I carry a gun everywhere I go. I can't depend on the police to be everywhere every second of the day.

Obey the laws, and only use it if you have to, and you'll be fine. Also, never volunteer more information than necessary. That's my $.02!

You say you carry now without concealed permit if I correctly understand what you have written. That in itself is not legal, so why worry about it any different while traveling. It's not really a matter of legal as possible, it either is or it is not.
 
this is absoluley the wrong place to ask legal questions!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!especially on gun's...
some advice will get you life in prison or a extended stay in the big house!!!!!!!!!!
call your local states attorney office they will send it to you in writing.

Another good site to check is http://www.handgunlaw.us/. They have a button on the
left side of the main page which will take you to the auto/rv rules for firearms in each state.
Get your concealed permit. "Quick Grab" crime is on the rise for motor vehicles where the scum
will reach into your car and glove box while you are at a gas pump. Punks are looking for cash,
guns and cell phones.
 
Thanks for the links and advice! I will check into it further. And just to clarify, when I said carrying, I mean in the holster and in the glovebox at the same time. Not concealed and on person..

when you are traveling...."If" you are involved in an accident or disabled and your car has to be towed...that is when it gets
tricky....Since you live in Sanford, you can understand how it can get complicated ....when there is a problem...the judge is going to see you are licensed even though it is in your car...you are well within your rights ...it still makes you look much better to all concerned that you took the trouble to be licensed.....Just a thought
 
with a cc permit, most neighboring states recognize each others permits.... there are exceptions like ny and nj and of course dc.as always i lean towards my privacy and less govt invol the better, but accidents, road blocks and eager leo do happen..
 
In the glove box IS concealed. In a locked case, not loaded, & outside of the passenger compartment is your safest bet. All states are different and so are all LEOs. I agree the bad guys have em and the good guys should but, when you're the one getting booked into jail for doing it wrong (and I have) you start to wonder which one you are.
 
Everyone, everyone that can legally get a C C should spend the time and money to get one. They protect you in so many ways, no matter where your at. Just stay cool and never pull it unless you intend to shoot.
 
In a disscussion with an atty in brevard co in june I was advised to carry in a zippered case with no cc permit. zipper is a key word for transporting gun in vehicle in FL. You are responsible for injury or damage from any discharge of your gun. Sounds like your holster could allow gun to slip out and have something hit trigger. zippered case does not have to be in glove box. please con sult each states carry laws to be safe. Just repeating what I was told, this atty teaches gun classes our talk foucused on me carrying a loaded semi auto pistol without a cc permit. I use a cd case from the dollar store many gun cases soft gun cases have zippers so go figure.
 
well the way i see it if you need it ya better have it..... and its easier to ask for forgiveness than permission 8)
