We were talking to some buggy people that were watching races for the first time. They loved the speed of the boats but felt that there was no continuity or flow to the event. These are the very people we need to have support this sport."

There was alot going on this weekend. I would think that there should be more planing for such an event if you want to draw the masses. You had the Daytona 500 not to mention the Palm Beach Airboat show. Those are two big competing events which kept me closer to home.

Part of the issue with getting more fan support is the location of the track. Its in the middle of nowhere and your not going to get casual fans and new fans to a track out there, heck its hard enough to get the racers themselves out there lol. It would be nice to have a few more tracks closer to general public to generate more interest from peoople that would otherwise never come to an airboat race. It would be pretty cool to hae a circut someday and have devils garden on it as one of the venues. I know more tracks is easier said than done and getting it done under one sanctioning body is another issue. Hopefully things will come together.

well HAMMERHEAD,
its not because we haven't tryed in marion county.
they have gone to the zoneing twice (that I know of) to put a track in fort McCoy.
both times the people have voted us down.
they want us (airboater's) out of sight and out of mind.

were going to have to have meetings like we use to and get the internet races involved and also we got to go back to the rules nara built over 10 yeas of meeting s and get some lights so we dont have to hear Dave wine abought me protesting.with the rules we hade you did have a lot more classes

Yes sir I'm well aware of it I was at the commision meeting the last time.

yes the simple solution is lights if you want professional racing then have professional equipment and rules. like dubs & hammer said yes it's okay to think of yourself and have your own protection but every type of sanctioned racing i've done anytime you running nitrous. it was and should be mandatory to wear a fire suit, gloves and shoes. because some people just don't think outside the box and haven't seen some of the things that can happen with a nitrous backfire and etc. i think n.a.r.a. should at least make you wear at least a single layer jacket and pants. because god forbid something happen but if it ever did bad then here goes the suing been there and seen it.

All this bickering over this. It all comes down to the sanctioning body. It is their responsibility to provide the rules and equipment to provide safety to drivers and fans. It is justa matter of time before a racer or fan is seriously hurt . It is their responsibility to provide equipment and personel to provide the paying fans and teams a decided winner , with support.

You have an example to look at . You look at and modify to fit ideas from NHRA. The sanctioning body could sell memberships w/decal . For years I supported NHRA , and never own a drag car. Thats what support is. If every boat running our waterways ran a membership decal , this would provide funds to provide necessary equipment to travel to each track to provide safety and results.

You get organized and make it a 2 day event.
Day 1: Amateur racing , just like NHRA does with bracket racing in their first days of an event.
Run a Amateur Hunt boat classes for 4 and 6 cycl AC and a Car class . This will be classes of your everyday hunt boats with polymer. (3 classes)
Run a Amateur Ride boat classes for 4 and 6 cycl AC and a Car class . This would be classes of everyday ride boats without polymer. (3 classes)
You run your test and tune (limited passes ) for the pro big boys, to give fans a taste of the next days racing.

Your Amateur racing and memberships will generate enough revenue to support the body and provide the equipment needed to take the Pro racing to the level these pro racing teams deserve. If you make the sport respectable and with proper safety and official results , other coporate sponsors will want to run their banners around the track as support. But you have to make this marketable and generate fan support. You select a weekend that does not have other major airboating events already scheduled. You build a neutral sanctioning body , fan friendly tracks and events and the fans will follow.

There is no way I would have taken my family and grandkids to this last event. They are lucky there was only one serious buggy injury there. Went to the food area and you take your life in your own hands. Monster buggies cutting donuts around little kids on Honda 50 four wheelers and no law enforcement seen except at ticket gate. The safety teams present at track were not sufficent for the level of fuel being used. That little fire could have been a lot worst. I had a friend burned very bad from alcohol fire in late model racing.

I'm ready to support my sport, I'll buy a membership. Those racing teams put on a Helluva race. They deserve better.

Helms , hope you build a race boat. Thats what the sport needs is more teams and support. Hopefully this event can spark enough interest to give this sport a charge to grow into a well followed sport.

I believe I'm about to build one... I'm about ready for another toy  Hell I would get involved and race the boat I have but by looking at all of the fast boats yesterday they would have to give me a half track head start.

Lmao Bubba I know what you mean  congrats to you put on a great show :thumbleft:

There was no controversy over Bubba being "the King of AC ". It didn't matter which lane , his boat was strong. Great job .

Close clean racing all day, so got to figure out what I can build to go play but I got a idea :D , but heck you got to be fast to compete with any of these guys, my barge no way, but Bubba proved a ride boat could get it done again

I resembled that remark except for the shoes, gloves, pants and fire suit lol. But you are correct, we should wear all of it!
