can you make the run from north whitney to granbury, and is there a boat ramp at the dam at granbury, when i was a little younger there was a low water bridge s. of hwy 67 can you make it under that bridge. Thanks randy
 
That might be a bit farther of a trip than you expect but yeah it can be done.
There is a back way to a shallow spot to put in right below the Granbury dam, the area is known as Mitchell bend or Brazos River Acres (BRA). As far as getting under those old bridges , well that depends on "how big an ole' boy you are " and how big of boat ya got?
Lots of skinny water there (below Granbury to Glen Rose ) and you'll have to be able to run dry too.
Let me know if you bite this lil' ride off and I'll ride with ya for a way , I know the section below and above Granbury well.

thanks BB my brother-n-law and I arent quite finished with the boat yet, we've built it from ground up, its got a little style of everybodys design in it, but I guess mostly SD style, should be done around 1st of april, and would be greatly appreciated to tag along with you and have a good time
 
Becareful, once you get around the little bend that runs North/South & is just West of Ham Creek, there's some sort of "Naturists" Camp.... It used to be a part of the Ol' Post Oak Ranch, except now they call it the Rainbow Ranch or some $#!^ & it ain't cattle they're runnin'.... :lol:

Also note, that they ain't exactly "airboat friendly" either :wink:

Probably ain't just greens their growin' either!! :shock:
 
Ahh hell dont worry about them fairys in the grass up there , just put that boat up on the bank and chase em' a bit , I hear they like it !!!!

yea right, i havent got my airboat yet. im still paddling this damn kayak. im not gettin anywhere this "rainbow
ranch" in kayak or airboat either one. who heard of a kayak running ground anywho lol
 
We have gone from Whitney to hwy 67 bridge . We put in at Ham creek area and ran deep water for a few miles then shallow with lots of rock and went to the bridge at 67 and there was a old dam or low water crossing there past the bridge and that was a good place to turn around. If you go do it when the lake is up and water is running from Grandbury as there are large round rocks we crossed also. There was also a canoe rental place up there and we saw where they put in and take out. One of my favorite trips. I hope to go again soon. Beautiful scenery and not many houses.

I hear ya dean... I put in at Chisholm Trail Park.... once you enter the park take the road to the left, there's a small low water boat ramp & a lot of room on the bank. This would be a good place for a day run... lot's of shade & picnic tables, etc. :wink:

If you made it to the 3rd bridge you are just East of Glen Rose. :bounce:

That was "The Spinners" inaugural run... we come around a bend & there they were in all their "glory"... you should of seen 'em mofo's sprintin' up the bank :lol:
 
Yea thats it Chisolm Trail park. I couldnt remember the name. We have gone white bassin up that way also.
 
well directly below whitney dam u can put in/take out. below there until u get to waco i dont think there
is any ramps. im not even positive there is at waco, i would guess there is tho
 
There's a boat ramp at Brazos Park East (Cameron Park East) (2000 Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd) in Waco... but check first to see if they're open, as the park may be closed due to maintence/renovation. :wink:
 
Theres a ramp at McLennan JuCo if you go west up the old Bosque river channel. There is also a ramp at Dick's canoe rental close to the 2114 bridge. Dick's is only 7-8mi from the dam though.
 
correction second bridge is where we went cr 401 1/2 mile from 67and it is in Glen Rose. I will post some pics. This was in 2004,hard to remember that far back , fun looking at old pics anyway. After looking at the map we apparently went past GlenRose!
