Glad you had 4 great days out there Andy. This week was pretty good fishing with some pretty good low tides. On Monday hit three different holes on the low and hit about 10 or 15 mid to upper slot redfish and a bunch of smaller trout. Tuesday hit one hole and caught about 10 good reds out of it. Once the tide came in I struggled to keep the bite going until the water came up real good. Popped on some oyster bars and caught a bunch of smaller trout with a few big ones and a real nice pompano. Wednesday the bite was on all day pretty much at every stop with big reds and big trout. Thursday was tough going on the low with just 4 reds and two trout. About two hours into the incoming with the big west wind and higher water the reds and trout really lit up great with several triple headers abd non stop action for a few hours. We played catch and release all week except kept a few on Tuesday. The weather was outstanding all week but still a bit warm. Hope everyone has a Merry Christmas.

Fished last week Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. On Tuesday had a low outgoing tide. Left in the afternoon about 2 hours before low. Hit one good hole filled with big trout. Caught two over 20 inches and lots of slots. Then pushed back with the tide Fishing a creek that had been pretty good catching reds and every hole. Caught about 15 good reds. Tuesday got set up on the a huge grass flat and poled the low water fishing for tailing reds. Spooked out several and couldn’t quite make it happen. Had about ten good shots at tailers but very spooky fish. Then went in my one grouper trip for the season Thursday abd caught a bunch but it was rough out. Let’s see what this week will bring with some of the coldest weather we have had in about 10 years and some super low tides.

Very bitter cold week. Braved the front on Monday and fished in some miserable low water cold conditions. Managed 4 keepers, 1 overslot and two shorts. Cut trip short due to being too cold out. Witnessed some of the lowest water I have seen all year. Decided to sit out Tuesday and Wednesday. On Thursday decided to get in the boat and hunt the yankeetown area to see how the snook were doing. I didn’t witness a bunch of dead snook but did see 3 dead snook and a bunch of dead sailcats in the river. I’m talking with several friends from Waccassasa and the consensus was that they saw hundreds of snook dead. As I write this more reports coming in from yankeetown that more big breeder snook were floating today. I only looked in main river bennets creek and south towards power plant, I did not look north of the river. Ozello was also hit pretty hard the last few days. While I was running around I stopped in a few holes and at around 2 o’clock the reds turned on we caught some nice big keepers that ate aggressively. We Left them biting to come in and thaw out.

I hate to hear about the big snook dying from the cold weather, but wouldn't mind if someone dropped a few off to my house that got accidentally scooped up in your landing net. Some filets and cheek pieces would hit the spot followed by a cold beer!! :salute: :cheers: :toothy7:

That sucks to hear those Snook died, I'm from Naples originally and the snook have really had a rough time in the last several years. I bet with this weather that the Trout and Reds will be stacked in the holes. Soon as we can get everyone in power from this weather I'm going!!!!!
Man way to go bar hopper. Congrats on an outstanding day. I fished Monday, Tuesday and Thursday this week. Monday the bite was on pretty good we boated 27 reds and 5 sheepshead. My buddy was fishing the same creek and he caught over 20 reds on fly with one at 27 inches on fly. Tuesday fished and caught lots of shorts but about 7 or 8 keepers out of about 50 reds. The tide was terrible on Thursday with not much water movement and I knew the bite would be tough with no tidal movement. I decided to pole a shallow section as far back as I could push. The creek was loaded with big reds laying shallow. Had a bunch of follows on topwater, but not much commitment. We did sightfish 5 reds and blew out 50 or so. Tough bite Thursday for me, but saw a ton of big reds. More cold weather coming and some good lows this week should keep the fish deep in the creeks. Hope everyone has a great week out there.

I’m glad bar hopper and Andy got out and had some great fishing. Y’all have been doing great. I have been throwing mud minnows and shrimp pretty much and the trout usually take them no problem. I haven’t seen any trout to speak of since the real cold set in though. Was wondering if y’all were catching them. I did go out today with an old buddy of mine Ky and we had a great trip too and caught about a dozen reds but most 25 inches or bigger today.

We're lucky to have a creek for some reason always hold trout when the water is really cold, my buddy made 5 casts and caught 5 trout in the 17-22 inch slot they seem to love a mirodine fished slow. Those are some sweet reds fitnast !! We r fortunate to have such an amazing fishery. Tight lines
Thanks for the tip about the mullet Bar hopper. Will def give it a try. I would love to throw on a plug Andy and try it. The bite was on fire all week with some amazing fishing going on. Today was the best bite I have been on since November. Probably caught over 50 reds today and all were quality fish over 25 inches all on the mud minnow.

Caught 20 reds in one hole....10 over 25, only 3 shorts!!!!
What a beautiful day....but a little chilly this morning, 30 when we left the dock at 815....didn’t see any dead fish. Tried one spot for trout....nothing!!!!

A little slower today. No problem catching fish but the bite dropped off. Weather was not as nice as yesterday. I was wanting to go yesterday but it didn’t work out. Hey Hoyt, judging by the carcasses in the water behind the cleaning table I’d say yesterday was pretty good.

Fished last Monday and Tuesday and the Fishing remained awesome with a bunch of big reds and even got some trout back in the mix. Monday we boated a little over 20 reds and three trout. One trout was a trophy at almost 28 inches. Tuesday we boated somewhere in the neighborhood of 40 reds, all reds were upper or overs. Great few days of fishing.

Fished Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. Monday the bite was awesome with lots of reds but not many with a lot of size but got a few good ones. Tuesday not much tide to speak of with the strong wind and caught a duzen big reds. Thursday was decent early on the low water with about a dozen good ones but died on the full moon incoming with nothing to speak of. Hit a hole just north of airboat ramp on Tuesday and when I pulled up there were three undersized reds filleted laying on the bank which was a sad sight to see. Caught one 23 inch trout all week, but did hear my buddy’s in homosassa have a big push of trout in on this moon. Warm weather I’m the forecast should get the fish moving this week
