Brazos river

You can't launch your airboat at Dick's... they'll tell you somethin' abou their insurance won't let 'em or somethin' like that. :?
 
liltimetx I have a picture of what may be the old road and low bridge when we were in Glen Rose south of 67 in my gallery. There is no bridge now but a 3 ft drop off. I think you could make it over it if the water was running.
 
I talk to some people this weekend that made the trip from Whitney to GlenRose in 2000 and I was told that there was a low bridge at this spot then but it was gone when we went in 2004. They had to turn around because of the low bridge. I have not been further than this yet.
 
Yep, the low bridge was intack back then. Might be a nice run from Grandbury down to the old demolitioned bridge. that the only section we aint done between Whitney and Grandbury. Then there is the run from Oaks Crossing to PK. We made the trip from Hillbilly Haven up to Oaks Crossing with James, Red, Joe , and the Texoma gang and it was nice run, but we should have went on off holiday weekend. Seems we ruffled a few feathers back in 04 or 05 when we had the big get together. I am gonna see if I can find the picks we took back then. Got the video but the picks really were good with all the boats and the people from all over. We had them from Kansas, Ok., Ohio, and Texas.
 
Lotta pretty rivers in Texas , but none of them seem to have the long stretches that the Brazos has. still a lot places on the Brazos with out lotta developement also and that is a plus for Airboatin.
 
Maybe we oughta run that stretch on Memorial Day weekend... I know a fella that might know where there might be a Gary Stewart CD or 2 layin' around or so I heard. :twisted:

Ain't sure which howdown that was taken at, but looks like we were about little over half way down the bottle and waltzin to empty glass. :drunken:

It was the Red River Rampage run... we had just put the band to bed & our special friend "Russ" was no where to be found... remember the young man that walked up & introduced himself with the challenge where Cousin Butch passed him the "jug" & threw the cork in the fire.

"Well don't stand there & act like you're scared of it... " :lol:
 
Ah yes it coming back to me now. That was the youngster that could out drink all of Texas , so we gave him the cheap bottle. 101 Gobble Gobble. if I remember right was real quite the next day.
 
Yeah that's him... remember his boss came lookin' for him the next mornin' while we were drinkin' coffee after our "police call" of our area. We found him some time around 9:00 am a sleep under a pecan tree wearin' nuthin' but a jacket & his flip flops. :lol:

We put in at Ham creek area and ran deep water for a few miles then shallow with lots of rock and went to the bridge at 67 and there was a old dam or low water crossing there past the bridge and that was a good place to turn around. If you go do it when the lake is up and water is running from Grandbury as there are large round rocks we crossed also. There was also a canoe rental place up there and we saw where they put in and take out. One of my favorite trips. I hope to go again soon. Beautiful scenery and not many houses.

New Hamm Creek Boat ramp a rocks throw from the old one Also has a camp ground now
